Who am I?

Hi! My name is Kathryn Beam, and I am a Licensed Clinical Mental Health Counselor Associate (LCMHCA), NCC (Nationally Certified Counselor), PMH-C (Perinatal Mental Health Certified) serving clients in Greensboro, NC. I specialize in Perinatal Mental Health, and I am passionate about supporting women through their pregnancy, postpartum, and parenting journeys, whatever path that may take.

As a mom of 3 myself, I have lived experience with the highs and lows of motherhood.

While the pictures on this website are beautiful, what you can’t see from the outside is I was deeply struggling. Struggling with my sense of self, my body, my friends, my relationship, and my new identity and role as a mother.

While I also had moments of joy, satisfaction, and hope, I often felt lost, anxious, sad, and alone. I felt unable to share the depth of my feelings with those closest to me, and I was ashamed to admit motherhood wasn’t exactly what I thought it would be.

Although I had all the training necessary to recognize the signs of perinatal anxiety and depression, I still couldn’t wrap my mind around my feelings. Hadn’t I hoped and prayed for this?

Eventually I sought support, and I’m so glad I did.

Counseling is an incredibly personal, vulnerable, stripped bare journey, and finding the right counselor is of the utmost importance.
